South Fork Release Paths
South Fork Forest Camp is an Oregon Department of Corrections institution. It is not the Tillamook County jail. A person leaving the grounds may be on an assigned work crew, transferring to another DOC institution, moving to a controlled placement, beginning post-prison supervision, or completing a discharge. Only the last two paths may involve physical release from prison, and supervision can continue after the prison exit.
The record trail follows the state system. Oregon Offender Search can provide a current clue. VISOR can report custody, transfer, release, and supervision events. Tillamook County Community Corrections may become relevant when local supervision begins. An ODOC public record is the documentary route for the actual release or final discharge. A county jail roster cannot establish any routine South Fork Forest Camp release.

The ODOC Public Records Center accepts written requests through its portal. Mail may be sent to Oregon DOC, ATTN Public Records Request, 3723 Fairview Industrial Drive SE, Suite 200, Salem, OR 97310. Include contact information, full name, SID, approximate dates, South Fork Forest Camp, and a narrow description of the record.
Ask for public pen-pack components that identify the last date of physical DOC custody, the release category, entry onto parole or post-prison supervision, and final discharge if applicable. DOC lists labor at $25 per hour for clerical work, $40 for managerial work, and $75 for professional work, plus actual costs. Request an estimate before broad research begins.
South Fork State Custody
South Fork is a minimum-security state work camp jointly operated by ODOC and the Oregon Department of Forestry. Minimum security describes the custody setting. It does not mean that a person is free from confinement. Forestry and fire work performed away from the camp remains part of the correctional program.

Why South Fork Is Distinct
The Oregon Department of Forestry history says South Fork Forest Camp began in 1951 after the Tillamook Burn. ODF describes it as the only DOC institution on Board of Forestry lands and the only prison facility owned and jointly operated by the two state agencies. It is also described as the oldest and largest work camp in the Pacific Northwest.

South Fork Release Supervision
Oregon replaced VINELink with VISOR. The current system works with ODOC, county jails, OYA, Community Corrections, and the Board. It can provide notifications for release, transfer, escape, death, hearings, and projected-date changes. A person physically released onto supervision may remain searchable because VISOR covers people in custody or under supervision.
VISOR is not a certified discharge record. An alert marks an event reported to the system, while DOC records establish the official custody history. If Tillamook County Community Corrections supervises the person locally, that office may confirm the correct reporting process but may limit personal details. No public Tillamook name-based supervision roster was found.
South Fork Discharge Record
A DOC public pen pack may include public-information prints, first and last face sheets, a photograph, judgments and sentence orders, and some supervision or discharge materials. Not every component is guaranteed. State the exact question in the request: the actual date and type of release from physical DOC custody, whether supervision began, and the final discharge date if it exists.
That wording separates three events that are often confused. Departure from South Fork may just be an institution transfer. Exit from prison may begin post-prison supervision. Final discharge may occur only after supervision ends. One projected date does not prove any of those events happened.
Note: Use the Oregon Board only when the person's sentence falls within its parole authority.
South Fork Release Date Limits
Research did not confirm a universal projected-release field inside OOS. Board-governed cases may involve a projected parole release date, an exit interview, a personal review, or postponement. Modern determinate sentences often follow other rules. No date should be calculated by subtracting a flat percentage without the judgment, offense date, statutory framework, and DOC calculation.
A past or future date is a clue until matched to the record that created it. Court judgments state the sentence. DOC computes and records its custody action. VISOR supplies status and notice information. Community Corrections handles local supervision. Keeping these roles separate produces a much more reliable South Fork Forest Camp release finding.
South Fork County Boundary
The facility's Tillamook address does not make its records county jail records. South Fork belongs to the statewide DOC system. A Tillamook County court case might document an earlier arrest or prison sentence, and a county movement record might show transfer to DOC. After that handoff, the state maintains the prison custody trail. Requesting a county release page for the South Fork period would ask the wrong custodian.
The distinction also works in reverse. OOS is not a historical list of every person booked in Tillamook County. A person who served only a local jail term may never appear in state offender results. Identify the sentencing and holding agency before interpreting a blank result. A name's absence cannot establish which system had custody.
If the person returned to Tillamook County under post-prison supervision, Community Corrections is a supervision channel rather than a prison-release archive. It can direct reporting questions, while ODOC remains the source for the prison exit and the Board holds records for cases within its authority. Final proof may require more than one document because prison release and supervision discharge occur at different times. Keep each date tied to the agency record that created it.
